KENSHO-RYU
FOR CHILDREN
Kensho-Ryu, provides many
different reasons why
children should study
Karate.
Concerned parents become
tired of seeing their
youngsters being abused and
intimidated by the
school-yard bullies.
Many physicians, teachers,
and counselors recommend
Karate, as a way to help
youngsters achieve greater
social, physical, mental,
and emotional growth.
Children who
are clumsy, overweight,
awkward, or "all arms and
legs," develop agility,
grace, coordination, and a
positive self image through
Karate's physical and mental
training.
As Karate skills develop,
self-confidence is greatly
increased until, finally,
the school-yard bullies look
for someone else less
confident and self-assured
to pick on. Confident
children do not become
victims.
Children are different and
some youngsters advance more
quickly than others. But, at
Kensho-Ryu, our main goal is
to ensure that all children
are ultimately successful
and thus benefit from our
program.

KENSHO-RYU
FOR TEENS
For many
teens, Kensho-Ryu, provides
a social "club" atmosphere
that is a positive, healthy
alternative to the sometimes
undesirable peer pressure
placed on today's youth. The
desire to excel in Karate,
motivates teens to attend
classes regularly, where
they meet and become friends
with other positive
thinking, achieving people.
Karate, teaches discipline
and the ability to control
oneself, mentally and
physically
These traits are
indispensable in helping
teens to resist the drug
abuse, alcohol, and juvenile
delinquency that so many of
today's youths are involved
with.
A strong
interest in Karate, can
greatly help teenagers to
bridge the gap between
childhood and maturity. This
transition is a difficult
time for many youngsters.
The experience at
Kensho-Ryu, is designed to
provide a rewarding
atmosphere where teenagers
can grow and mature in a
healthy way.

KENSHO-RYU
FOR WOMEN
Women are
rightly concerned about
being assaulted, and they
should be. More and more
women are finding
Kensho-Ryu, to be the key to
personal security and
confidence. The self defense
skills and knowledge
developed at Kensho-Ryu,
gives women the capability
to stand up to any situation
without fear.
The flexibility exercises,
combined with the kicking
and punching of Karate
workouts also provide an
excellent tone-up and weight
control program that is far
more interesting than most
of the "do it over and over"
exercise formats that often
bore us and allow us to
fail.
Karate workouts also provide
an excellent release from
the stress and frustrations
that build up in us all.

KENSHO-RYU
FOR MEN
Sometimes the
pressure, responsibilities,
and stress of the day-to-day
living can really take their
toll. Kensho-Ryu, has
provided thousands of men a
healthy way to "blow off
steam" and get in great
physical shape at the same
time. New-found stamina,
confidence, and a
"take-on-the-world"
enthusiasm are achieved
along with the development
of Karate skills.
The ability to defend
oneself and one's family is
an important asset to any
man at any age.
Knowing that you are not
vulnerable is a tremendous
feeling. Kensho-Ryu, can
provide men with a program
that will help them gain
this valuable knowledge. |
Kensho-Ryu, is a
unique and versatile
martial art - a
system that utilizes
traditional and
modern training
methods. The
Kensho-Ryu
practitioner uses
the rounded fluid
motions of Chinese
Kung Fu, the focused
energy displacement
of jujitsu and the
hard linear strikes
of Japanese Karate
in order to
implement
self-defense
techniques, form
exercises and
free-fighting
combinations.
It is the intention
of the grand
masters' lineage
that the system
remain fluid and
street effective.
All training in
Kensho-Ryu, is
taught with an eye
on giving the
practitioner the
means of defending
themselves in the
street. Mass attack
with both open hand
and weapons is the
emphasis of advanced
training. In
addition, Kensho Ryu
is a complete Kobudo
system with emphasis
on Okinawan and
Japanese weaponry
including the bo,
kama, sai, tonfa,
ekku, nunchaku,
bokken, katana,
naginata, koboton
and yari. Extensive
self defense
training against
knife, club, gun and
improvised weaponry
is the focus of the
modern weapons
training.
Kensho Ryu is the
largest Kenpo Karate
organization on the
East coast with 18
schools throughout
the United States.
As members of the
World Martial Arts
Federation, Kensho
Ryu practitioners
are affiliated with
68 other schools in
a network of
seminars, workshops,
demonstrations and
tournaments. In
fact, Kensho Ryu is
the home of several
International and
World martial arts
champions, with one
as young as seven
years old.
